The FIFA 2026 World Cup
will bring millions of soccer fans to the New York City area.
During the matches, the union contract between the NYC hotel industry and the union representing the region’s hotel workers, the Hotel & Gaming Trades Council, AFL-CIO, is set to expire. While we are hopeful that the industry agrees to a fair contract well before the expiration date, there is a possibility that there will be strikes, pickets, and lockouts at some New York City hotels.
